This Privacy Policy for Slate Labs LLC (doing business as Slate Labs) ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you:

  • Visit our website at https://slatelabs.app or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Policy
  • Use Slate Labs — a sports data analytics and research platform that provides player prop analysis and grading across major DFS platforms for informational and entertainment purposes only
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including customer support or marketing

With whom do we share personal information? We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the platform: Clerk (authentication), Lemon Squeezy (payments), PostHog (analytics), and Vercel (hosting). We do not sell your personal information.

What are your rights? Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can exercise these rights by emailing hello@slatelabs.app.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you provide to us. We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register for the Services, subscribe to Lab Pro, or contact us. This may include:

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided)
  • Authentication data (managed by Clerk)
  • Billing information (managed by Lemon Squeezy)

Payment data.We do not directly collect or store full payment card information. All payment data is handled and stored by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy's privacy notice is available at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

Authentication data.User account registration and authentication is handled by Clerk. Clerk's privacy notice is available at https://clerk.com/privacy.

Social login data. If you choose to register using Google or Apple sign-in (via Clerk), we receive certain profile information from the social provider, typically your name and email address. We do not control how these third parties use your information.

Information automatically collected. When you visit, use, or navigate our Services, we may automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, pages viewed, and usage data. This is primarily for security, operation, and internal analytics.

Sensitive information. We do not process sensitive personal information such as biometric data, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, health data, or financial account numbers.

2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

We process your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To facilitate account creation, authentication, and account management
  • To deliver and provide the Services you request (e.g., displaying your personalized slate)
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions through Lemon Squeezy
  • To send administrative information, such as account updates, security notices, and changes to our terms or policies
  • To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • To protect the Services, including fraud monitoring and prevention
  • To understand how users interact with the Services so we can improve them
  • To comply with legal obligations

3. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING

If you are located in the EU or UK, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:

  • Consent — when you have given us permission to use your information for a specific purpose
  • Performance of a Contract — when necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, such as providing Lab Pro after payment
  • Legitimate Interests — when processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as improving the Services, security, and fraud prevention
  • Legal Obligations — when necessary to comply with legal obligations

If you are located in Canada, we may process your information with your express or implied consent, or in limited circumstances where permitted by law without consent.

4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?

We share your personal information only with the following third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. We have contracts in place with these providers designed to safeguard your information. They may not use your personal information for any purpose other than to perform services for us.

We may also share information in the following situations:

  • Business transfers. In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business.
  • Legal obligations. To comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We have not sold or shared any personal information to third parties for a business or commercial purpose in the preceding twelve (12) months.

5. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. These technologies help us maintain the security of the Services, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.

We also permit PostHog to use tracking technologies for product analytics to understand how users interact with the Services. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject cookies, though this may affect certain features of our Services.

6. SOCIAL LOGINS

Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using third-party social media account details (such as Google or Apple), managed through Clerk. When you do this, we receive certain profile information about you from the social media provider, typically your name and email address. We use this information only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider. We recommend that you review their privacy notice to understand how they collect, use, and share your personal information.

7. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Our servers are located in the United States. Regardless of your location, your information may be transferred to, stored by, and processed by us and our third-party service providers in the United States and other countries.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, these countries may not have data protection laws as comprehensive as those in your country. We will take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law, including relying on European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses where appropriate.

8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). We will retain your account information for no longer than twelve (12) months past the termination of your account. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it.

9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect or modify your information. Transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk.

10. INFORMATION FROM MINORS

We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. If we learn that personal information from users under 18 has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. 11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to request access to and obtain a copy of your personal information
  • The right to request rectification or correction of inaccurate personal information
  • The right to request erasure (deletion) of your personal information
  • The right to restrict or object to our processing of your personal information
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
  • The right not to be subject to automated decision-making

Account information. You can review or change the information in your account at any time by logging into your account settings. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. We may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, or comply with legal requirements.

Opting out of marketing. You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us at hello@slatelabs.app.

12. DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing Do-Not-Track (DNT) signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. If a standard for online tracking is adopted in the future, we will inform you of that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Policy.

13. U.S. STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, including:

  • Right to know whether we are processing your personal data
  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to obtain a copy of the personal data you previously shared with us
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal data or targeted advertising (we do not sell personal data)

California "Shine the Light" Law. California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

14. SPORTS ANALYTICS DISCLAIMER

Slate Labs provides sports data analytics and research tools for informational and entertainment purposes only. Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, investment, wagering, or gambling advice of any kind. Users must be 18 years of age or older. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-522-4700.

15. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
